Part 2 of our guide for looking after your leased vehicle is about choosing a garage for your service or repairs.
You would be amazed at the number of times we are asked where should we get our car serviced?!
As a rule of thumb it is always advisable to use main dealerships for your service or repairs. These can be found easily online by simply searching the manufacturers website for the closest dealer to you.
Should you find any issues, contact the team here at Jigsaw Finance and we can help locate an approved dealership in your area.
It's absolutely vital that you used an approved garage as this could invalidate your vehicles warranty and potentially result in additional costs when the vehicle is returned so, please check first before using an independent garage in your area.
Always ask the garage for a detailed breakdown and costing of all the work required so you can see how they arrived at the total cost. Make sure they include all parts, any re-calibration, labour costings and VAT and can provide a receipt and warranty for the work carried out.
Check the garage will carry out the service following the manufacturer's procedures and use original parts or those of 'equivalent quality'.
You must make sure the service booklet is date-stamped by the garage or repairer as evidence that service has taken place.
It's important to remember, with repairs to your lease vehicle, if they are considered manufacturer faults and it falls within the warranty period there should be no charge to yourself.
On the other hand, if you are having a service completed on your vehicle and you have not taken out any service agreement, you will of course be charged the full amount of this work to be carried out.

Jigsaw Finance Limited and associated trading styles is a Credit Broker not a lender and is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 679612). We work with a limited panel of lenders, who may offer different interest rates and charges. We are only able to offer finance products from these providers. Our lender selection process is structured to balance lender efficiencies with customer approval rates. We operate on a non-advised basis, meaning we do not provide financial advice or make recommendations. Instead, we explain key features of available finance products, and you decide whether the product is suitable for you.
We do not charge you a fee for our service; instead we receive a commission payment from lenders for arranging finance on your behalf. The commission we receive may vary depending on the lender and product. The commission we receive from the lender and pay to the introducer impacts the amount you pay.
As a credit broker with a limited panel of preferred credit providers from whom we receive commission, Jigsaw is not impartial and we may be influenced by the amount of commission we earn. Although we receive commission from lenders, we aim to provide finance solutions that meet our customers' needs.
The amount earned by Jigsaw and the motor retailer including how it has been calculated will be disclosed prior to signing your agreement. Full details of this can be found in our Initial Disclosure Document.
If you have any questions about how we are paid or how we select lenders, please ask before proceeding.
